Denis Kabanov. Poland has sheltered separatists

2010 09 22

About 200 representatives of Chechen Diaspora from Russia, West Europe, Near East, Asia and North America are gathering there, as well as delegates from the fighting groups in the mountains of Caucasus and some tens of secret delegates from Chechnya.

The Russian Ambassador to Poland Aleksandr Alekseejev has already accused the authorities of Warsaw for supporting the event.

“We consider the organization of such congresses as highly dangerous” – stated he. – Russia is strictly fighting against international terrorism, which cannot be national with a religious covering. When on the territory of any country a meeting is organized for those, who in one way or the other are related to terrorism, we take it painfully”.

It is expected that Ahmed Zakajev, who is announced in Russia for international search, is arriving to the congress. This renowned figure, member of the “ichkerian leadership” is staying currently in London. Russia has already requested Polish authorities to arrest Zakajev, if he arrives to the gathering. And actually the Prosecutor of Poland has immediately promised that in case he crossed the border, he will be arrested on the basis of the international search.

However, Radoslav Sikorskij, the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, has earlier stated that “the issue on possible extradition of Zakajev Russia has to resolve with Great Britain, which has given political asylum to Zakajev”.
