Lukashenko threatens to convert Belarus into the Chechnya and Kosovo

2011 02 23

The President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that introduction of economic sanctions against the official Minsk will “put the initiators to great expense”. Lukashenko made the corresponding statement on 21 February in Minsk addressing Belarusian commanders.

“If somebody is willing to try economic war with Belarus, then it will put them to great expense”, - said Lukashenko, - “I am not sabre-rattling, but we have enough of that as well”.

“Currently we are threatened with economic sanctions. If there is someone in our environment willing to have Chechnya in Belarus, then it is no problem. But it will be more complicated than Chechnya. I assume no one needs that. If someone seeks for more than Kosovo, then, I think, it is not a problem either. We are going to defend or land, our territory with all available means and resources”, - stressed the president of Belarus.

It should be noted that Lukashenko has repeatedly stated earlier, that in the case Russia decided to annex Belarus, it will become “another Chechnya”.

Answering to the questions of journalists concerning his attitude towards criticism to his address from various EU and USA politicians, the head of Belarus noted: “I spit on all their comments. They are evil and dishonest people. It is neither possible to talk to them, nor create any relationship”.
