2012 06 28

On 24 June Lithuanian delegation, headed by the Defence Minister Rasa Jukneviciene, paid a two-day visit to Armenia.
As reported to IA REGNUM at the press service of the Armenian Defence Ministry, the delegation had a meeting with the Defence Minister of Armenia Seiran Ohanian and the leadership of Military Forces. The sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the sphere of defence, and the Lithuanian side noted that it stands for a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. The defence ministers of the two states signed a cooperation agreement between the two countries in the sphere of defence, since certain items of a similar agreement of 2002 had lost relevance after Lithuania's accession to the EU.
The document provides for bilateral cooperation in the field of democratic control of the armed forces, defence policy and strategy, defence planning, and international peacekeeping operations, logistics, etc.
