|Estonian military officers on the way to Mali for training local soldiers
An African state of Mali, where multilateral armed conflict has blazed up again, threatens to turn into a new Afghanistan, i.e. to become the source of the terrorist threat to the entire world, reported "Novosti Estonia."
To avoid this, the European Union started an ambitious plan on training local forces. On Friday, 8 February, it was announced that Estonia will also join the operation, reported "MK-Estonia".
Estonia will send two military officers to Mali, who will serve asanalysts in the Joint Staff. Estonian officers will serve during two periods of six months.
In total, the EU will send 500 military specialists to Mali with the mission to train local population to form 4 battalions with up to two and a half thousand people in total.
