Consul of Estonia was asked to leave with his belongings

2013 04 25

Consul of the Consulate General of the Republic of Estonia in St. Petersburg Franek Persidski was declared persona non grata in the Russian Federation. Persidski became an undesirable person in Russia on the basis of parity - a little earlier Russians were not allowed into Estonia.

According to the attaché for culture of the Estonian Embassy in Moscow Indrek Kivirik, information about that Persidski has been declared persona non grata was known at the diplomatic mission a few days ago.

Kivirik did not explain the reasons for expulsion, and stated he is not informed about whether the consul has left the territory of Russia or not.

Presumably, the reason for declaring Persidski persona non grata was a recent incident in mid-March, when a few young Russians on their way to Tallinn for participating in the round table "Baltic Dialogue - 2013", were denied visas by the Estonian side.

The Agency OSTKRAFT noted that Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev at a recent meeting with the Prime Minister of Estonia Andrus Ansip urged to abandon the "ideological schemes" in the relations between states.

Obviously, the schemes "would not listen" to Premiers.
