Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta criticized the President Traian Basescu for inadequate and faltering response to the actions of Dmitry Rogozin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and the Russian presidential envoy to Transnistria, crossing freely by plane on 8 May the airspace of Romania on the way to Chisinau. As reported on 12 May by the Romanian Ziare.com, Ponta stated that being the supreme commander he'd picked up fighters in the air for a forced landing of the Russian governmental plane.
According to the Romanian Prime Minister, none of the defendants in the "black list" of the EU, which also includes Rogozin, will cross the airspace of the country again. "We will take care of it," - said Ponta, adding that unlike "the strolling across the country Basescu" he will be resolved and will prove to the Western partners that "they may trust them."
Victor Ponta noted that the decision of closing the airspace of Romania for the aircraft of Rogozin on his way back to Moscow on 10 May 10 was taken on the level of the Government and the Foreign Ministry. "We have worked properly, respecting the obligations of Romania" - concluded Victor Ponta.
"Blustery Pontas" - wrote Dmitry Rogozin on his Twitter page, commenting on the statement of the Romanian Prime Minister. "I ask the Russian Foreign Ministry to pay attention to the statement on this actor," - said the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.
Recalling, as reported by IA REGNUM on 10 May, Ukraine and Romania closed their airspace for the plane of the Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and the accompanying delegation during his visit to Transnistria. As a result, the Russian delegation had to return from Chisinau to Moscow on a scheduled flight. It should be noted that on 8 May the plane of Rogozin was flying to Chisinau through the territories of Bulgaria and Romania. Moreover, according to the Romanian media, the Russian pilots "cheated" Romanian dispatchers, stating that there are no individuals on board included in the "black list" of the EU.
