Igor Samsonov. Rogozin threatened Moldova

Russia will be forced to reconsider its relations with Moldova, if Chisinau signs an association agreement with the European Union. This statement was made by the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, who is also the Russian presidential envoy to Transnistria.
"Former relationship will no longer continue. I am convinced that the association with the EU – means the change of the neutral status. There are certain rules known to all NATO members. For joining the EU, it is required to join NATO. This rule will not be changed for Moldavians. All states passed through it. Therefore, the association with the EU – means the moment, when Moldova is taking the handle of the door named "NATO"... I will insist on the revision of economic relations with Moldova, if it goes for the association", - said the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to Rogozin, the movement of Moldova towards Europe is caused by political rather than economic advantages. "It is pure politics. This is an attempt to enrol into an extraneous gang. This is the change of the neutral status of Moldova. It is already a slight attempt to involve Moldova into NATO. As the EU as the NATO block is alien for us. If Moldova is going to move in this direction, it's not our decision. But we will be forced to react with regards towards Transnistria and the economy of the country which is leaving", - stated he.
