There are intentions in the State Duma to impose restrictions on the placement of information of a military character on social networks.
The State Duma Deputy from the Communist Party faction Vadim Solovyov proposed a number of amendments to the law "On Military Duty and Military Service." In particular, it is proposed to introduce a ban on placing on the internet the internal military information. This applies to both photos and videos containing an image of military units, special equipment and also pictures from military exercises.
"We consider it necessary to limit the permission for military officials in using the internet as to avoid appearance of any information of military nature on Global Networks, since it may be used for provocative purposes," - stated Solovyov.
Herewith the MP has quickly assured that these restrictions will not affect private correspondence of soldiers. Currently, military officials are only recommended to refrain from posting information on the web that goes beyond their personal life.
The Head of the Centre for Military Forecasting Anatoly Tsiganok agrees to the initiative of the Deputy. "I have seen this mess myself... In the US Army, for example, such practice is applied. It is very good that our parliamentarians have decided to address this issue."
