Russian strategic bombers Tu-95 conducted military exercises in the Atlantic Ocean near the coast of Canada. According to Washington Free Beacon, «targets» of the nuclear missiles were American objects. The training exercises have been "accidentally" timed with the NATO Summit in Wales, the newspaper notes.

Analysis of the flights showed that the bombers carried out military exercises on launching nuclear missiles at American targets, noted the newspaper.

Just last week, the Russian General Yuri Yakubov urged Moscow to include in the doctrine pre-emptive nuclear strikes against the United States and NATO, and qualify them as enemies. "We need to work out the conditions under which Russia could strike a pre-emptive blow with the Russian strategic nuclear forces," - quoted him Washington Free Beacon, writes the russian.rt.com

According to analysts, flights of Russian bombers threaten using military force from Moscow, which is the outcome of tensions due to the crisis in Ukraine. Neither American nor Canadian fighter jets were raised in the air for intercepting Russian fighters Tu-95, the newspaper notes.

In response to the actions of Russia the Alliance decided to create a rapid reaction force in the Eastern Europe. In September, American troops will conduct international military exercises in Western Ukraine. They will start on 15 September and will be attended by troops of Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain and the United States. Russian nuclear forces will also hold a large-scale exercise in mid-September, said the American edition.

Bombers Tu-95 are equipped with cruise missiles X-55, within the reach of which are Ottawa, New York, Washington, Chicago and the naval base in Norfolk. However, these missiles can not reach Kings Bay, where the submarines with ballistic missiles are deployed, writes the Washington Free Beacon.
