||Natalija Sergejeva. „THE BALTIC FORUM“ invites for a dialogue
On 25-26 May 2007 the International public organisation „The Baltic Forum" is organising the 12th international conference in Riga. The main topic of the Conference – „The EU and Russia: negotiating new relationship“.
Topicality of the Conference lies in the fact that the term of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and Russia is expiring on 30 November 2007. Accordingly, the question regarding new fundamentals of contractual relationship becomes particularly relevant. Therefore the Conference is planning to discuss the following issues: what are the interests and the potential of the participants in this process? What principles should be followed in establishing future relations? How can reconciliation be reached between different approaches on future relations of the EU and Russia?
Organisers of the Conference are planning to raise no less relevant topics for Latvia and other countries of the region as energetic security and transit.
Experts from Belgium, Belarus, Greece, Denmark, Israel, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Poland, USA, the Ukraine, Switzerland and Estonia have already confirmed their participation in the Conference, as well as the representatives from the European Commission and the deputies from the European Parliament. As usually, a numerous and presentable Russian delegation will also participate in the forum. This year, apart from prestigious experts- political scientists, economists and branch specialists, the delegation will include high ranking representatives from the Administration of the Russian President, State Duma and the Council of the Federation, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Economic Development, and managers of large Russian enterprises involved in fuel-energy and transit business.
