The third International Forum of regional press held in Latvia

On 19 July the Third International Forum for the regional press of the Baltic region the “Rezekne Meetings” takes place in the Latvian town Rezekne. The Rezekne city duma and the Russian-Baltic media centre are the organizers of the event.
According to the tradition the Forum is attended by the representatives of the regional press of Latgala, Lithuania, Estonia and Russia (from Leningrad and Pskov oblastj). Apart from them, journalists from Novgorodskaja oblastj are taking part in the Forum.
Organisers of the Forum this year suggest discussing at plenary sessions various issues related with the possible scenarios for further development of regional centres and small townships: “Regional Centres. Points of economic growth or the source of labour resources?”, “Small townships. Economic and demographic challenges towards the post-industrial epoch”.
In addition to the actual members of the press, invited experts will also attend the III International Forum of Regional Press in the Baltic region. Among them are Director of the St-Petersburg branch of the High School of Economics Alexander Khodachek, Chairman of the Pskov State Committee on Tourism, Investments and Spatial Development Natalya Trunova, Head of the administration of Pikalevo (a town in Leningrad Region) Sergey Veber, and Chairman of the Viljaka regional duma Sergei Maximov. Chairman of the Rezekne City Council Alexander Bartashevich will also intervene as an expert.
